MICHAEL JORDAN AT UCF HOME OPENER TO CHEER ON HIS SON MARCUS
Michael Jordan is definitely bringing some hype to the University of Central Florida basketball program. There were over 8,700 people at Friday night’s season opener against UMass compared to slightly over 4,000 at last year’s season opener. Reports are also showing that men’s basketball season ticket sales are up more than 20 percent.
Marcus Jordan got some playing time and looked pretty good in front of Dad even though he didn’t score any points. UCF came away with an 84-67 win… but I’d have to say that it doesn’t seem like anyone on the Knights wants the ball! Every time they would get the ball they would be looking for someone to pass it to instead of trying to shoot it or take it to the hole! Come on guys….if you want MJ to be impressed and even consider letting the team be sponsored by Jordan Brand (now that Adidas is out of the picture)…you need to bring it!
I guess I can’t totally say that the entire team didn’t want the ball….Sophomore guard Isaac Sosa looked like Dennis Scott by hitting six 3-pointers and scoring 26 points and sophomore guard AJ Rompza scored 13 points.
Overall it was a great night…I got a chance to go back to my alma mater, got to see the Knights amazing new Arena, got to look up behind me and see the greatest basketball player that ever lived and got to grab some amazing carne asada tacos at El Cerro’s!
